The Team

Mr. Gerhard van Wyk

Chairman

Mr. van Wyk has 11 years’ experience in the mining industry and has been the Supply Chain Manager for Regius since 2014, and the Contracts & Corporate Governance Director since 2019. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management which he obtained from the University of Pretoria. Additionally, he also completed his Registered Person’s examinations through the South African Institute of Financial Markets (SAIFM): Equity markets and Bond markets. Mr. van Wyk is aspiring to obtain his CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Charter and has, to date, passed the CFA Level 1 and Level 2 Examinations.

Cobus van Wyk II

CEO & COO

Mr. Cobus van Wyk has 10 years’ experience in the mining industry within Mozambique where he began his career as Plant Manager Assistant working his way up to Maintenance Superintendent, Production Manager, Mine Planner, Plant Manager and Business Developer. He worked as Marketing Manager and Stock Controller in Mauritius and Thailand where he established the offices and auction houses for Mustang Resources and Regius. Mr. van Wyk’s technical mining knowledge and skill, together with his international experience in business development and operations makes him a valuable leader to Regius. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management from the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Mr. Paulo Cintra

Mining Engineer & Country Manager

Mr. Cintra is Regius’ Mining Engineer and Country Manager and holds a degree in Mining Engineering with more than 25 years’ experience in production with a diverse mixture of products and technologies, bringing valuable hands-on operations management. Experienced primarily in prospecting mineral processing and open pit operations, having worked in Portugal, Spain, Angola and Mozambique.

Dirk Muntingh

Geologist

Mr. Muntingh is a competent person that holds a Master’s degree in the field of Geology which he obtained from the University of Johannesburg. He previously worked at the Council for Geosciences, before joining Anglo American Corporation’s gold division in 1987 and progressed to Country Manager for Ghana in 1997 before transferring to Anglo Gold in 1999 as the Country Manager for Australia. From 2006 he managed the exploration program of Witwatersrand Gold Resources until its takeover by Sibanye Gold in 2014. Mr. Muntingh has since then practised as an independent consulting geologist. He operates internationally and specialises in geological aspects of gold mining, exploration and project feasibility.

Bento Muxlhanga

Geologist

Mr. Muxlhanga obtained his honours degree in Geology from Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique in 2012. He has over ten years’ experience in geological exploration, water research and analysis. Mr. Muxlhanga has been instrumental in the discovery of several resource deposits over his career, giving Regius early access to some of the most promising projects in Mozambique. He has had first-hand experience in Gold, Rubies, Diamonds, Graphite, Fluorite, Lithium, Phosphate and Heavy Mineral Sands exploration projects.

Mr. Kobus Badenhorst

Geologist

Mr. Badenhorst is a Qualified Professional that obtained his BSC (Geology) in 1992 and BSC (Hons) (Geology) in 1993, both from the University of the Free State, South Africa. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the Exploration and Mining industry. Mr. Badenhorst has been the Managing Director of GeoActiv (Pty) Ltd since 2007. He is involved in various projects for different commodities. Greenstone Stella Platinum; various Bushveld PGM projects; heavy mineral sands projects in South Africa West coast, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh; Postmansburg Iron Ore Projects; Zimbabwe Great Dyke PGM and Greenstone Gold; Zambia Cu; Mali Au etc.

Morris Makuza

Geologist and Site Manager

Mr. Makuza holds a BSC in Mining and Environmental Geology from the University of Venda and began his career in 2013 at Village Main Reef’s Consmurch Mine, where he worked under the Mineral Resource Department and specialised in Quality Control. He also worked for the Pern Quality Control Department as Resident Geotechnical Engineer in the construction of the American Embassy in Maputo. Mr. Makuza has been working for Regius since 2017 as Geologist, Health and Safety Manager, and Site Manager. He has substantial experience with the exploration of the following commodities: Gold, Diamonds, Rubies, Fluorite, and Graphite.

Nicolene Coetze

Financial Manager – South Africa

Ms. Coetzee obtained a BCOM degree from the University of South Africa in 2005. She has over 20 years’ experience in financial management and has been the financial manager of Regius since 2008, making her the longest serving member of the Regius Team. Ms. Coetzee is vastly experienced in bookkeeping practices in the exploration industry, cashflow management, account management, budgeting, implementation of financial controls, payroll, tax management, financial reporting and management of audits.

Ernesto Mubai

Financial Manager – Mozambique

Mr. Mubai obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Auditing from the Pedagogical University of Maputo in 2015, and also completed an accounting technical course at the Maputo Commercial Institute. He has obtained his Professional Account Technician Card and is a Member of the Order of Accountants and Auditors of Mozambique. He has previously worked for BDO Binder & CO in Maputo as a Senior Accountant for 3 years. Mr. Mubai has been the Financial Manager for Regius in Maputo since 2015, where he is responsible for the preparation of all bookkeeping, accounting reports, as well as VAT, IRPS and IRPC processing in Mozambique.
